I'm always searching for answers so I read all kinds of ideas about what might be going on and I'm also interested in the latest archeological finds.

since we're moving to another part of the country in the fall a place we only spent one night when we were on the road I'm doing research on places to live, things to do and google maps.

when I want to be entertained I listen to some music youtube one thats funny is a group in Oregon called on the rocks doing a parody of lady gaga's bad romance It's really really well done and very funny.

on tv I watch flash forward, house, anthony bourdain, weather channel and yard crashers.

THE MOST THRILLING MOMENT of your life.....?

here is the most thrilling moment of my life.. i got to meet my film composer heroes john barry and miklos rosza at the beverly hills writer's guild theater for a seminar on filmmusic.. i was 30 years old at the time and going through my "you look like clint eastwood" stage.

(i'm trying to explain my crazy hair!).

i chatted with them and got them to sign my albums.. what was your most thrilling moment?.

Thats a difficult one I think back in 1968 when I was 18 and I joined the sds and became a campus radical and we demonstrated against the vietnam war and were attacked by the rotc guys they tore up our signs and beat up a few people that was exciting.

no i don't think people like me very well especially after they engage in a few of my weird conversations about the meaning of life I scare them away. I often surprise people because I don't look like I think I'm soft spoken and kind and strangers like little old ladies ask me for help and when I was young men would eventually always say "your not the person I thought you were" except for my over the top husband who found that weird quality to be the attractive part for 25 yrs now.

benny lava and his gang are all hindus, muslims don't like them because they dance, sing and wear bright color clothes and they like flowers & statues and education.

30 minute C.O. talk against the phrase "Take It Easy"

my buddy and i were recalling some of the worst talks we ever heard.. one classic we remembered was one by a new c.o., who gave this talk on his first visit.. the guy was an arrogant tool, and he thought he was the voice of god.. we couldnt remember the title, but all we remember was a 30 minute rant against the phrase "take it easy".

we thought it was supposed to be talk encouraging pioneering, but it quickly took a turn for the worse....... "we often hear worldly people use the phrase "take it easy" - as christians, we do not take it easy!".

"we should never hear the phrase "take it easy" here at the kingdom hall".

I hated all those guilt tripping talks and especially the pioneer interviews one time there was this pio tightly wound sister who got up on stage looking frazzled & ready to cry saying how she would like nothing better than to stay home fix up her place do some crafts but that wouldn't be right. she went on about the urgency of the times and saving her personal desires for the new system. I thought about how I hated these displays of self rightousness.

Where do I begin?

i'm new here but have been reading/lurking for several months.

it's good to know that i'm not alone in my ex-jw status and that my story and experiences are not unique.

i have no bitterness or anger anymore.... that's long gone since i left some 12 years ago.

you accept some of these people as an authority.

you listen to them.

I am curious about what people believe and I don't want to lose that but the wtbs has taught me a valuable lesson. I'll be much more careful and critical and I'll not be joining anybodys group.

I used to think that interpretation was over the top and I never really believed it but for some reason I thougt it was ok to not accept the whole package deal and I would tell bible studies that we don't really know what that means. Then one day I realized they expected full compliance and I just couldn't do that.
